Tracing suits logos, icons and flat artwork and scales cleanly. Photos are better kept as pixels inside the SVG.

Bytes of your files sent anywhere: 0 B · nothing leaves this tab
Every request this page makes is listed as it happens. You’ll see our own code loading, and for some formats a codec engine, but never your file going out.
- Waiting for network activity…
Check it yourself: open your browser’s developer tools on the Network tab, or turn off Wi-Fi once the page has loaded. The tools keep working.
How to use it
- 01
Add your files
Drop your HEIC photos, straight from AirDrop, iCloud or a USB cable.
- 02
Check the settings
Leave the quality at 90, which looks identical, or choose PNG or WebP instead under “change format”.
- 03
Save the result
Save the JPGs one by one, or all together as a ZIP.
Why it doesn’t upload
Your camera roll is personal: faces, kids, home, documents. Most HEIC converters upload every photo to a server. This one decodes HEIC inside your browser, so the photos stay yours.
How to check for yourselfWorth knowing
- Live Photos convert to a still JPG; the motion part isn’t included.
- Very large HEICs (48 MP ProRAW-style shots) can hit memory limits on older phones — a laptop handles them easily.
- Decoding HEIC in Chrome, Edge and Firefox uses a WebAssembly decoder, so expect roughly 1–2 seconds per photo. Safari decodes it natively and is faster.
- Location and camera metadata are not carried over to the JPG — handy before sharing.
HEIC vs JPG in one minute
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is built on the same HEVC codec used for 4K video. It stores the same photo in roughly half the bytes of a JPG and supports 10-bit color. The catch is compatibility: outside Apple’s world, plenty of apps, websites and upload forms simply don’t understand it.
JPG is three decades old and opens on literally everything. For anything leaving your iPhone — email, job applications, visa forms, print shops — JPG is the safe choice. Keep the HEIC originals in your photo library; send the JPG copies.
Questions
Why are my iPhone photos HEIC instead of JPG?
Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos as HEIC because it takes about half the space of JPG. You can switch to JPG in Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible, but photos you already took stay HEIC.
Why can’t I open HEIC files on Windows?
Windows needs Microsoft’s HEIF and HEVC codec extensions to display HEIC, and the HEVC one isn’t free on every PC. Converting to JPG avoids the problem entirely.
Will I lose quality converting HEIC to JPG?
At 90% quality the JPG looks the same as the original on any screen. The file will usually be larger than the HEIC, because JPG is a less efficient format.
Can I convert HEIC to JPG on my phone?
Yes — this page works in mobile browsers. On iPhone, pick photos with “Choose files”; on Android, use your file manager or Google Photos download.
Is it safe to convert personal photos here?
Yes. The conversion runs in your browser tab. Open the network log under the tool: you’ll see our code load, and zero bytes of your photos leave the device.
Do visa and job portals accept HEIC?
Almost never. Portals expect JPG, often under a size limit like 240 KB. Convert here, then use Compress Image or Resize Image with the Passport photo preset.
